About - What is Eterna?

Eterna is an online Play-by-Post (PbP) roleplay. Essentially, our escapades come about through writing on the forums, rather than clicking buttons or rolling dice. The main aim is for us to write stories of our characters together. The core setting is a large sprawling continent set in a gritty low fantasy world, wherein there are few established kingdoms and all magic is rare and mystical in nature. With fractured warring states, the treacherous world of Eterna will take you from the rare respite of homely village taverns to the marvel of The Great Citadels of The Hallows. But, while the sheer terror emanating from the beasts of The Badlands and inevitable insanity of the excursions into The Farlands should not be disregarded, even in neutral territories a pack of wild wolves can leave a mark on all but the most prepared of travelling parties.

Unlike many RPGs, while we do have stat sheets, the emphasis here is on the writing and character development rather than who's the strongest. That said, the core balance and ability/progression system help guide us along so no one gets to start out with more than anyone else. Like a game of Dungeons and Dragons, there's a great deal of player-staff interaction. If you do something big, the effects will permeate throughout the world. If you commit a crime, you will end up wanted.
